There are Committees, and, Non-Governmental Organizations, in the United Nations, that are challenging the Catholic Church's teaching on abortion, and as such are furthering the culture of death in their corporate structures. There are also staff departments within the U.N. that seem to favor abortion as a means of controlling world population. Please pray that these ideologies may cease as they are causing much harm and are an insult to God's goodness. 7/17 Fred S.

Hello, This email comes as a prayer request. Sister Shirley from my congregation has been dealing with a very rare form of cancer . . . all that is left for her are some clinical trials etc. She has asked everyone to please pray on her behalf through the intercession of Blessed Marianne Cope. Marianne was a Sister of St. Francis of Syracuse (whose founders were originally in my congregation the Sisters of St. Francis of Philadelphia - my congregation - so we are very close as congregations) - Marianne's cause towards canonization requires a "miracle." Wouldn't it be wonderful if that miracle would be the healing of Sister Shirley? I am asking if you would pray for Shirley through the intercession of Blessed Sister Marianne Cope. Also if you have a "prayer chain" please pass this request along to them.
Let's storm heaven for this one. I have enclosed a link to the site explaining who Blessed Marianne was! http://www.blessedmariannecope.org
Thank you, Sister Kathy Ganiel, (this request via Carlos C., SFO)

Dear Friends,
Please remember Fr. Matthew Gaskin, OFM in your prayers. Fr. Matt is suffering from a case of pneumonia. While he is not in any immediate danger and feeling a bit stronger, Matthew is now 86 years old and his situation is complicated with other health issues. I am sure he would appreciate your prayerful support. As you recall, Fr. Matthew served the Secular Franciscans as National Spiritual Assistant as well as spiritual assistant to the National Formation Commission and Peace and Justice Commission as well as Provincial spiritual assistant for Holy Name Province to the SFO.
If you wish to send a get well card to Fr. Matt, his address is:
Rev. Matthew L. Gaskin, OFM Holy Name Friary 2 Morris Road Ringwood, NJ 07456-1700
Thanks. Carlos 7/9/2008

Dear Regional Franciscan Family, Urgent Request for Prayers Please place Lee Skizenski, SFO, Northeast Area Councilor and member of the San Damiano SFO Community in Summerfield, on your fraternity prayer lines as soon as possible. Lee fainted and fell in her garage Sunday afternoon and now has a fractured pelvis. Her friends and fraternity member, Libby and her husband, who live just down the street took her to the ER. She is now in Monroe Regional Medical Center in Ocala, waiting to see if she will need surgery or if she has other options. Both Nancy Mathewson and Fr. Tom have spoken with her on the phone. She asked that I call her this evening, so I will keep you posted. I don't think she would be up to receiving many calls or visitors yet. She has asked for our prayers so if you get this message, please pray for Lee in her time of need. Peace and Good, Pam Nagle, SFO 7/7/2008
